F-Gas

Air Conditioning Inspections Are Now Mandatory

F gases ‘are a family of chemicals that contain fluorine’. Most F-Gases are very powerful greenhouse gases which contribute to global warming if emitted into the atmosphere. 75% of F-Gases are used in refrigeration, air conditioning, heating and other transfer fluids.

In March 2014, the European Parliament passed regulation on the use of fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-Gases). The F-Gas Regulation was a landmark ruling that has affected manufacturers, installers, specifiers, owners and users of air conditioning equipment. The principal objective of the F-Gas Regulation and related legislation is to contain, prevent and thereby reduce emissions of F-Gases.

As an operator of air conditioning equipment, you are now legally required to maintain records covering the maintenance of equipment and any refrigerants added to or reclaimed from your systems.
